EASTER
Easter was early this year... March 31, 2013. Lacey, K and Nola are at the Bugdahls for the week-end. Lindsey and Josh will spend Easter day with the Johnsons. We will go to church in Foley and have dinner with the Harrens. To start off the week-end,
Lindsey and Cassandra came to spend a few days with us. We went to the Mankato Mall and had Cassie's picture taken with the Easter Bunny. I can't explain the feeling when you see you youngest baby placed into the arms of a big ole' rabbit...
the kind with white fake fur and a colorful vest...
with a big smile painted on under blue eyes and a fluffy pink nose.
This bunny came to be by peoples imaginations. What fun really when you think of it...
when you think of our imaginations being saved by the resurrection. When you know you will go to church on Sunday to celebrate the risen Christ...
you imagine His arms holding your babies,
keeping them safe...
He smiles upon His creation and has all things under control.
It is quite hard for us to understand really, but, the story has gone on for over 2,000 years.
When you think about Easter present and Easter past - you know we live it everyday. We live our lives for Him, He died, descended and rose again...
because of this,
we will never be the same.
I find a box of pictures and see our first born grand-baby in the arms of a similar rabbit -
minus the colored vest.
I see how fast time has gone, as I type this with fingers that show the years...
I hold both pictures to my heart and pray for the Creator of all things good
to hold them close always
to bring them to Himself
to help them to grow in His love
to protect them and keep them from harm
to heal them with His mighty Hand
but most of all
to smile upon them and bring them His Peace.

CONZINS (II)
I didn't get to be there for this reunion. I think that is a hopeful sign...
Although I love to be there - I am so happy when these moments happen without me also.
It gives me a sense that the love has been passed down.
It has gone through the test of time.
God has filled our lives with so many Blessings...
we need to make space for them,
take some of the other things out of our life - the things that fill the space where Blessings are to be.
And as we do that, get rid of the "things"...
we can feel the Holy Spirit rain down on us...
over our hearts, over our lives...
and we can see the two year old hands, holding on to each other -
Don't ever let your idea of what life should be keep you from experiencing what we already have... right there on your living room floor -
smiling.

Quotes from a potty trainer
Spring finally seems to have arrived today. Upon my return home from work Nola Jean and I get ready to take Chloe for a walk.
Chloe needs to walk, she needs to find that piece of spring she has been waiting for all winter.
As we get ready to get in the stroller, Nola decides that she can't sit in the stroller. She is told that yes, she will sit in the stroller, after a day of work grams isn't sure she could catch her if she decided to walk faster than I!
Nola can't sit... she is working on the potty training -but, there seems to be a problem that will need to be changed before she can sit - before we can go on our adventure.
Okay, diaper is changed...
We leave for our walk. Nola is all buckled into her stroller, purple shoes on, Jesus cares hat pulled over her curls, and, of course her pink purse filled with goods.
As we are walking I remember the picture of her up in the cupboard. All you can see is her little legs, her momma named the picture "busted". Nola's answer is "I'm not doing anything, I am just checking!" In this cupboard are the jelly beans, the ones used for the potty training.
I think of all her little 2 1/2 year old sayings...
"I'm going down for a nap"
"Manny Man' (man oh man)
"Do ya"
"I not doing something" (when she is clearly getting into something!)
"my tummy ache flew away"
and of course when she seriously puts her hand on her chin, and is contemplating, she will so sweetly ask "what do you think?"
...and we keep walking, and then we arrive at that special place where she can ban the stroller and use her little legs.
I keep walking, holding the dog chain and pushing the stroller...
"stop the road, stop the road!!"
I stop the stroller and she begins to pick up rocks and put them into her pink purse. Soon, we need to take out all of the prepackaged goods and put them in the stroller pocket...
there will not be room for the other treasures that were neatly packed.
"stop the road, stop the road!!"
... she takes her thumb and pointer and carefully picks up each rock, she explains to me that she is "picking up eggs for her momma"
"is this a pretty, shiney rock gramma pammie?"
"oh, gramma pammie, look, it's a pretty one, it is for you gramma pammie, do you like it?"
With the pink purse almost full of rocks, she see's a swirl (or as we later sound out... squirrel!). She runs to where it is and he jumps into the next tree, as she runs to the next tree, he goes on to the next...
finally we decide it is a baby squirrel looking for his momma - we can't touch him, but we can sure enjoy dreaming of where he might go next. As she puts her hands up by her ears she says
"what is that noise gramma pammie?". It is a bird, he is talking to the squirrel, together they are trying to figure out where momma is. Look Nola, it is a Robin...
"no, it's not Robin, it is a bird gramma pammie. It is a hawk"
Oh I say it is! I think it is a chicken hawk!
"no, its not a chicken gramma pammie, it is a hawk!"
and so it goes...
we head home so momma can see the eggs we have picked for her,
so we can tell momma about the swirls and the hawks.
And I think to myself...
"WHAT A BEAUTIFUL WORLD"

The Hands of God
She appears to be looking up, looking towards the person taking the picture.
Or, could it be as she looks up to see the hand of the Master photographer?
Could it be that His love brings her close to tears, her helplessness, His strength?
And was it at this moment, when the photographer clicked, that something in her heart, moved as it did in mine?
and she understood she was in the hand of God?
Jesus smiles
She spent time with her great grandma, papa and I.
When we woke on Sunday morning an excitement filled the air.
We went to church expecting.
He always meets us there, during that time when we wait upon His presence.
After church Pastor Wayne held Cassie so we could take her picture with him at the alter.
He talked to her about Jesus, her first lesson on the living Christ.
"let the children come to Me"
the Holy Spirit rained down,
Pastor and baby smiled...
and so did Jesus!
The feet of Jesus
Believing in my heart that the highest place for us to be is at the feet of Jesus.
I look at this picture and send up a prayer for the future generations,
we are to be His feet here on earth.
Am I doing my part Lord?
When You tell me to move, am I moving? Am I going in Your direction and showing others?
Have I showed your love to all your people that I meet?
Do I open my eyes and see people
as you see them?
Do I hear their cry with Your heart?
Help me Lord,
that when I move on from this place and see you face to face...
I would be doing well, helping people to arrive at the highest place here on earth...
Your feet.

CLASH BASH March 2013
The day has arrived and everything is ready for the Shag reunion 2013. It has been named the CLASH BASH and soon everyone would be here! When Nola wakes up in Mpls she runs to her mom and dad...
"wake up guys, we're going at the party, there's going to be people smiling and laughing! It's going to be so much fun!"
and I believe she has hit it right on the head!
Everyone came, arriving between 12:00 and 3:00. Lindsey, Josh and Cassandra Grace were the first family to arrive. We were able to get pictures of their clashing family and chat about how things were going. Next came ma and pa Hacker, clashing through the door with food in hand. Then came the rest of the families, one by one...
each getting their picture taken with their clash bash outfits.
Ringo and Nate came with a white elephant gift, and lots of good food.
Then Al and Curt brought up the rear when they were done with work.
Everyone was here!
Time to find a neighbor to take a picture of the clan. Katie brought in her little brother and clicked away. Yes, a perfect day ...
I believe Nola was right...
there was people smiling and laughing...
it was so much fun!!
